Window Display: Holidays 2017-18
Our Magical Holiday window display is inspired by the community of characters in J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter books.
In the left window: “Magic is Working Together.” Members of the Order of the Phoenix gather to strategize and inspire one another in the work that needs doing. Molly Weasley (played by a sock monkey formerly known as Willow): “I’d worry about the children, but they’re the ones showing us the way.” Dumbledore (via JK Rowling): “Happiness can be found in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.”
Meanwhile, Mad Eye, Snape, and Tonks contemplate their situation.
Mad Eye: “Constant Vigilance!” Snape (played by a sock monkey formerly known as Mal): “All these false rumors and reports.”
Tonks: “Are we even going to survive this?” Purl’s happy giant Sock Monkey (Scout) plays Hagrid (and looks a lot like Sweet Ums!) Hagrid (via JK Rowling): “No good sittin’ worryin’ abou’ it. What’s comin’ will come, an’ we’ll meet it when it does.”
Mr. Sirius Black (played by a sock monkey formerly known as Jayne) considers a life of risk-taking.
The other window, “Use your Magic to Help Others,” depicts a scene on the road between Hogsmeade and Hogwarts. Harry (played by a sock monkey formerly known as Xander) and Hermione confront the bully Malfoy (played by a sock monkey formerly known as Wash). Hermione: “You can’t treat people that way.” Harry: “Expelliarmus!”
Luna Lovegood supports Hannah Abbot who has been attacked by Malfoy. “When I’m feeling alone and in despair, I just remember the plight of the Crumple-Horned Snorkack and somehow that makes everything a little more bearable.” (not “crumble horn” like in the window!) Oh Luna!
Meanwhile Ron gives bystander support: “Hey, it’s okay, Hannah. We’re here with you. You’re not alone.”
