Window Display: Fall 2018
Images from our Fall 2018 window display inspired by the anime “My Neighbor Totoro” by beloved Japanese anime director, Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli (we recommend all their films!). In the left window (“Growing Seeds of Creativity”) Mei plants acorns with Chibi & Chu Totoros. In the right window (“Waiting for the Spirit of Creativity”) Satsuke waits at the bus station in the rain and finally gets to meet her little sister’s supposedly imaginary friend, O Totoro.
There are lots of great patterns for Miyazaki characters on Ravelry. The Totoros in the window displayed for based off of Raveler Brella’s patterns. I just went bigger and bigger! Soot sprites are really fun to make with black eyelash or other fuzzy yarn by knitting or crocheting. But you an also just make big pompoms and add googly eyes. The tall “grass” or brambles in the Growing Seeds window were created from recycled packing material.
